funderal flowersDorothy Jane Sadler, resident of Owasso, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at her home. She was 86 years of age. Dorothy was born May 4, 1927 at Humboldt, Kansas to William Martin and Georgia Hazel (Doyle) Benson. She was raised and received her education there, graduating Humboldt high school; Dorothy then moved to Chanute, Kansas where she worked for the Santa Fe railroad. On October 31, 1948, she and B.F. Sadler were united in marriage at Wewoka, OK. To this union, three daughters were born. Because of Mr. Sadler’s work with the pipeline, they resided in 38 states. In 1963 they moved to Tulsa where they lived for seventeen years. In 1985, Owasso became home. Dorothy worked for the Oral Roberts Evangelistic Association for many years as a specialized mail reader in their correspondence department. She was a member of Christ’s Church of Owasso. Dorothy was an accomplished seamstress and quilter, having made clothing and quilts for many in the family. She also enjoyed crafts and was an excellent sketch artist.

Those that survive include her husband of 65 years – B.F. Sadler; their daughters – DeLois Middleton and husband Bill of Jenks, OK; Judy Austin and husband Mike of Fairland, OK; Lesa Goodwin and husband Jeff of Memphis, TN; nine grandchildren Rev. Jamie Austin, Mandy Austin Tyndall, Sarah Middleton Barrett, Elizabeth Middleton Bacon, Matthew Middleton, Mark Middleton, Rachel Goodwin Fisher, Katie Goodwin Hendrick and Sadler Goodwin. Also surviving are twelve great grandchildren, a sister Margie Rhyne and husband Jim of Rochester, MN; a brother Bill Benson of Kansas City, KS, as well as other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Helen Watson and a brother Albert Benson.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Monday, December 30, 2013 in the Chapel of Mowery Funeral Service with her grandson Rev. Jamie Austin officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:30 pm in the Carney Cemetery, Carney, OK. Visitation will be Sunday, December 29th at Mowery Funeral Service from 1pm – 6pm, with the family present from 4-6.
