TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Hundreds of students will converge on Sequoyah Schools’ campus Saturday for the fifth annual Cherokee Nation VEX Robotics Competition.

Cherokee Nation’s Education Services department will host three robotics competitions this year. In the “Toss Up” game, school-age and college divisions will compete to see who can maneuver their self-built robot to score the most balls into goals on the playing field.

In the VEX IQ Challenge, students problem solve with their robots to earn points. Teams score by placing 40 balls of varying sizes into four goals or four rings on the playing field.

This is the largest VEX competition in terms of students registered that the Cherokee Nation has had. Teams from Rice University and University of Texas-Austin are just a couple that has registered.
