The Owasso Community Center is home to “The Quilters”, a group of six to seven ladies who meet every Monday and Wednesday at the Owasso Community Center to work on quilt tops.
Residents of the community have been bringing their completed quilt tops for 25 to 30 years to be quilted and ready for use. The quilters have put together more than 50 quilt tops. Quilts in all styles and colors are brought to them on a regular basis. The group carefully hand stitch, back and bind every quilt top ready for the owner’s enjoyment.
The quilters have kept a photographic record of every quilt they have worked on. Quilter’s hours are totaled to determine the price charged to the quilt’s owner and proceeds are donated to the senior program at the Center.
Residents in the community are encouraged to contact the Center if they have quilts ready for quilting. Inquiries to join the quilters or to have a quilt entered on the waiting list may be directed to the Community Center at 918-272-3903.
