funderal flowersBarbara Jean Troxell-Robins, resident of Owasso, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, January 19, 2014. She was 77 years of age. Barbara was born February 1, 1936 in Tulsa to James Arthur and Mildred Gertrude (Vernon) Slack. She was raised and received her education in Tulsa. Barbara received her vocational training, and worked as a nurse for the Tulsa Public School system. She was also a secretary and aide for TPS. In 1952, Barbara and Bert Troxell were united in marriage. Four years after his death in 1985, Barbara was united in marriage to Kenny Robins. He also preceded her in death in 2009. At that time, she made her home in Owasso, where she was a member of the Silver Creek Church of the Nazarene. Barbara had also been a member of the “Silver Sneakers” at the YMCA. Barbara was considered the “Matriarch” of her family; had been a caregiver to her family and to friends in need. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking and entertaining for family and friends, as well as sewing and embroidery.

Those that survive and hold many cherished memories are her children – Kenny Troxell of Tulsa, Travis Troxell and wife Lisa of Owasso; Sisters Seletia Oxford of Tulsa, Earline Dobrinski of Wagoner and May Perry of Fort Myers, Florida; and brother Richard Slack of Tulsa. Also surviving are four grandchildren – Benjamin Barber, Amanda Troxell-McCasland and husband Austin, Tyler Troxell and K.C. Troxell. Besides her husbands, Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Leroy Slack

Memorial services will be held Friday, January 24, 2014 in the sanctuary of the Silver Creek Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Nathan Burns officiating. She will be laid to rest privately in the Floral Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Broken Arrow, OK. Those that would like to honor Barbara’s memory may do so by contributing to the Silver Creek Children’s Dept., 9000 N. 145th East Ave., Owasso, OK 74055.
