The Owasso Chamber of Commerce held their Annual Meeting and Awards Luncheon Wednesday at the new TulsaTech Owasso Campus.
The sell out crowd of 300 was welcomed by Steve Mowery. Jeri Moberly gave opening remarks, going over her year as Chamber Chairman before passing the gavel to the incoming Chuck Mitchell.
Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin was the Keynote Speaker, who praised the City of Owasso and other regional partners for luring a $170 million Macy’s distribution. The Chamber presented Fallin its Business Impact Award for her contribution in attracting Macy’s, which will locate in the Owasso school district on unincorporated land east of U.S. 75 on 76th Street North.
David Charney of Owasso Land Trust, which secured the real estate for the deal, said Wednesday that Macy’s decision was between Tulsa County and a neighboring state until Oklahoma agreed to chip in $1.5 million to the project from the Governor’s Quick Action Closing Fund.
