So maybe you’ve never heard of “vaping,” but chances are you’ve heard of the electronic cigarette. Paradise Vapors of Owasso wants to clear the smoke, so to speak, and explain how it can work for you.
Owner Chip Paul says vapor, or vaping, is a term used to describe smoking an electronic cigarette. “While the vapor has flavor to the user, it is odorless and smokeless,” he says. “It is basically flavored water vapor and can have nicotine added to it. I do not know of one smoker who has seriously tried vaping who has not been able to quit. Plus, since they are smokeless and odorless, there are no restrictions on indoor vaping. We are all about the health aspects of doing this and getting off tobacco.”
Paul says it is an ideal way to wean off of nicotine since the e-liquid comes in different strengths. “Initially, we want to give them a comparable amount of nicotine to help them quit,” he says. “Then they can reduce the amount of nicotine contained in the e-liquid.”
Paradise Vapors offers a full line of quality electronic cigarettes, most of which are made in China, so Paul and co-owners Cynthia Powers and Angie McDonald are careful to select known, quality brands. The electronic cigarettes are reusable and consist of a rechargeable battery, a converter (to convert liquid to vapor) and a tank to hold the liquid (e-liquid).
All owners are former smokers and stand behind the efficacy of vaping based on their experiences.
If your interest is piqued, the folks at Paradise Vapors can walk you through the process of learning about vaping and choosing the products which work for your specific needs. “There are a ton of e-cigarettes on the market, and vapor stores opening all the time,” Paul says. “Some vapor shops sell junk. We want to educate customers that, first and foremost, they want a reusable product—something with a rechargeable battery and a refillable tank.
“There are some emerging standards in the industry, and we want to educate people about those. For instance, the products we sell are interchangeable with many different tank systems, batteries, etc. We also have an e-liquid tasting section where customers can try out different flavors. Most people find they enjoy trying different flavors and varieties. We have 50 flavors to choose from.”
Paul says they hope to soon carry a product called Grinds, which is a tobacco-less alternative to Skoal.
As a 16-year resident of Owasso, Paul says there was no question as to where he wanted his new business. “I love Owasso,” he says.
“I have one son who graduated here and another who is currently in high school. I love the people here, love the sense of community. I like the way our city is run. While we knew several other vapor stores were opening soon, we chose to open our store in Owasso rather than Tulsa because we wanted to provide a service to the Owasso community.”
