Barry Edward Colby, longtime Owasso area resident, passed away at his home on Monday evening, December 22, 2014 at the age of 70 years. Barry was born August 12, 1944 in Boston, Massachusetts to Lee and Marjorie (Boehm) Colby. He was raised in and graduated high school at New Auburn, Wisconsin then moving to Barstow, CA. Barry served his country with the United States Air Force. Following the military, he worked in civil service as an armored vehicle mechanic for the Marine Base in Yermo, CA. Barry and Linda Mathews were united in marriage in Barstow on June 11, 1965. To this union, two children were born. He was a member of the San Bernardino County Search & rescue Squad and a reserve deputy sheriff. In 1989, they moved to the Owasso area, where he continued his work as a mechanic for the Anhueser-Busch distributer. Barry and Linda were members of First Baptist Church Owasso. Family was a priority for him, and he enjoyed playing video games with family members; reloading ammunition, target shooting and traveling.
Those that survive include his wife – Linda of the home; children – Phillip Scott Colby and wife Renee’ and Deanna Moore and husband Gary all of Owasso. Also surviving are two granddaughters Cherish McCormick and husband Logan and Cheyenne Colby, as well as a cousin (whom he considered a brother) Ron Pizana of Minnesota.
At his request, cremation will take place and the family will hold private services at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso. www.moweryfs.com
