BookPagesHC1305_X_th_C“Literacy Services of Owasso (a nonprofit group) is now being formed!” says Director, Ann McKelvey.  Literacy Services will provide a tutor to help adults improve their reading skills.  More than one million Oklahoma adults cannot read and follow medical instructions according to the American Medical Association Foundation.

A tutor will also be provided for an adult who wants to learn to speak and write English. Our Owasso community is comprised of numerous cultures and languages.  Many adults are unable to help their school children with their homework or complete a simple task such as banking or making an appointment.  Reading and speaking English also helps adults get better jobs.

Literacy Services of Owasso is looking for tutors to volunteer their time for this worthwhile cause.  A tutor and student decide how often, when and where they want to meet.  The Owasso Community Center has opened their doors to us for tutoring and training.  All tutors will be trained and will have many materials to use.

For services or to tutor call 918-766-1186.  Come join us for an exciting adventure.
