Owasso 1st and Main Demolition Monday, March 21, 2016
Lifelong Owasso residents Steve and Renee Mowery, along with friends, family and city officials met at 1st and Main Monday morning to witness the demolition of a building the Mowerys purchased.
The Mowerys are the first private developers to kick off the City of Owasso’s plan to revitalize the downtown district. The building coming down met with mixed emotions for Steve and Renee, as Owasso’s Main Street is where they met. They even purchased their wedding rings at a shop now long gone on Main.
Steve says the building plans are not finalized, but they envision two separate two-story buildings with retail and restaurants on the lower level of one, with office spaces in the other. Their will be 12 upscale loft apartments above. They hope to have the buildings done within a year.
The development will bring something new to Main Street in Owasso. Hopefully the future will bring a place to meet your friends and family for a meal or to shop. They are hoping for a venue that might even bring in live music on the weekends.
We have been told that other developers are considering downtown Owasso for their next projects which will help bring new life to a mostly forgotten area of our city.
