Laurel Elizabeth Biata was born January 16, 1967, in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, to Robert Wesley and Rachel G. (Carothers) Snyder. She ended her 10-year battle with cancer Thursday, April 14, 2016, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 49 years. Laurel was brought up and educated in Carlisle, Pennsylvania; she graduated with the Carlisle High School Class of 1984. She was a very talented swimmer with three state championships to her credit as well as finishing in the top five at every event for all four years of high school. She earned a full athletic scholarship to Penn State University for swimming and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in English. Laurel was married to Tony Biata currently Vice President / Folds of Honor on August 14, 1993, in Carlisle. She and Tony moved to Auburn, New York in 1995 and operated a family golf practice facility together called Par Breakers for 15 years. During that time their loving son Michael was born in 1997. Laurel also worked as an administrative assistant with Holy Family Catholic Church in Auburn. She and her family moved to Owasso, Oklahoma, in June of 2011. At that time, she began her work as an administrative assistant with the Folds of Honor. She was also a faithful member of St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Owasso.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Rachel Snyder.
In accordance with Laurel’s wishes, private family services will be held at a later date. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Laurel Biata Memorial Fund, c/o RCB Bank, 11633 East 86th Street North, Owasso, Oklahoma, 74055. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
