Kurt Lynn Smith, resident of Skiatook and formerly of Owasso passed from this life on Friday, June 17, 2016, in Tulsa. He was 49 years of age. Kurt was born August 21, 1966, in Cottonwood, Idaho to Ronald and Doris (Back) Smith. He spent his early years in New Mexico and later Lawton, Oklahoma, where he graduated from MacArthur High School. He then attended the University of Oklahoma where he received his BS degree. On June 25, 1994, Kurt was united in marriage to Tricia Scott in Lawton, Oklahoma; and to this union, three sons were born. After their marriage, they made their home in Waco, Texas, Tulsa and later Owasso. He has resided in Skiatook since 2013. Kurt was a member of First Baptist Church, Owasso, the “0” Club Letterman Association of the University of Oklahoma and the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography. In his spare time, Kurt enjoyed hunting, fishing and coaching his son’s sports teams.
Those that survive and hold many cherished memories are his sons Hunter, Baylor and Gage Smith all of Owasso; his parents Ronald and Doris Smith of Owasso; and his brother Kyle Smith of Lawton; Tricia Smith; Dr. Bryan Dalton; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Kurt was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Lockett and Irene Back and paternal grandparents J.T. and Ninaleen Smith.
Visitation for Kurt will be Sunday, June 19, 2016, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso with funeral services held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 20, 2016, in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church – Owasso with Pastor Chris Wall officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Graceland Memorial Park Cemetery, Owasso, following the services.
