During Rise and Shine this morning at Barnes Elementary, music teacher Robin Wall was named McDonald’s Teacher of the Year for Northeast Oklahoma!

McDonald’s and school staff worked hard to keep the award a big surprise. Mrs Wall was awarded a $500 prize at this mornings assembly.

McDonald’s of Oklahoma recognized teachers in each of their co-op areas as McDonald’s Teacher of the Month. New this year, they asked the principals across the state to send in submissions for Teacher of the Year. They received hundreds of quality nominations that really reinforced the fact we have amazing teachers doing above and beyond what is asked.

Her nomination stood out for sure and the fact that she is a music teacher really made it special because the arts are so quick to be cut and yet these teachers do such amazing work in our schools.

Ms. Rylee Zaragoza, Barnes Elementary Principal nominated Mrs. Wall for the award and wrote:

“It is with the utmost respect and admiration that I write this letter of endorsement for Owasso’s very own Mrs. Robin Wall, Barnes Elementary Music Instructor for students in kindergarten through 5th grade. There is not enough room in this single page to evidence the span and detail of her effect on the students of Barnes Elementary School, as well as their families.  Mrs. Wall is the epitome of a passionate educator, devoted and trusted colleague and champion for music instruction and the arts in Owasso.

Earlier this school year, Mrs. Wall was also named the 2017 Owasso District Teacher of the Year.

Congratulations!
