Tyler Edward Miller

02/25/2019 – On February 23rd, at approximately 4:55 pm, Owasso Officers responded to the parking lot of Smith Farm Marketplace after a call about small children left unattended in a vehicle.

A witness had come upon three small children ages five, two and two in a Chevy Silverado which was running and unsecured.  When the 5 year old was asked where he parents were, he stated his dad had gone into one of the businesses.

Police entered the business in an attempt to locate the father but were unsuccessful. Officers returned to the scene and contacted the Chelsea Police Department, the city the father resides in, to obtain possible phone numbers for the father and/or family. While speaking with Chelsea PD, they advised they had an entry listing an open child welfare case for Tyler Edward Miller.

While speaking to Chelsea Dispatch, the father, exited the business and returned to the vehicle. This occurred at approximately 5:36 pm. Officers asked Miller how long he had left his children unattended, to which he replied “not even 10 minutes”. Officers informed Miller it had been 45 minutes. Miller then made a statement that he had brought the children in with him for a period of time. Miller was informed that was not the case.

Miller appeared to possibly be under the influence of a substance, however a portable breathalyzer test revealed no presence of alcohol and Miller denied taking any other substances or medications.

The children’s mother, was contacted and requested to respond to the scene to take custody of the children. Miller was placed under arrest for Child Neglect. While searching Miller’s person after arrest, police discovered a green plastic tube which contained a green leafy substance consistent with marijuana in appearance, odor and Miller’s own admission.

Miller was transported to David L. Moss on the charges of Child Neglect and Possession of Marijuana. An outstanding warrant through Craig County was also discovered. Craig County requested a hold be placed on Miller.
