Betty Clara Smith was born August 1, 1934, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Winson Oran and Rachel Amanda Johnson Smith. She died Friday, July 26, 2019, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 84 years. Betty was reared and educated in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, and graduated with the Sand Springs High School Class of 1952. She was married September 3, 1954, in Sand Springs to Roy Stanton Smith. Betty served in several churches as church secretary including Broadway Baptist Church in Sand Springs, First Baptist Church in Lubbock, Texas, Meadows Baptist Church in Plano, Texas, and First Baptist Church of Owasso. Her most important “job” was being a homemaker and caring for her family. She enjoyed a variety of pastimes including working in her flower garden growing her violets, playing her piano, traveling, and sewing. Nothing surpassed her love of spending time with her family. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2019, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 30. 2019, at First Baptist Church of Owasso with Pastor Chris Wall and Pastor Chad Balthrop officiating. Committal service and interment will follow at Woodland Memorial Park Cemetery in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
