Edgar “Buddy” Pales, Jr. was born on September 10, 1966, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Edgar Pales, Sr. and Frankie Ray (Brust) Pales. He passed from this life on Sunday, August 29, 2021, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 54 years.
Buddy was raised and educated in Owasso, Oklahoma and graduated with the Owasso High School Class of 1984. He began a career in law enforcement as an emergency dispatcher in July of 1992 for the Owasso Police Department. Buddy gained a reputation as being an expert in emergency communications before being sworn in as a police officer in January of 1995. Buddy worked days, nights, swing shifts and overnights over the years, but eventually became a K9 Officer, partnering with his life-long friend K9 Britt. After Britt’s retirement, Buddy partnered with K9 Shadow. Buddy then entered the role of School Resource Officer along with longtime friend Officer John Edwards.
Many years of Owasso students came through our school system knowing Buddy and John as the “school cops”. After years in the schools, Buddy returned to the streets and served as senior patrol officer of the B-1 Patrol Shift for the remainder of his career. In his spare time, buddy enjoyed yard work, traveling on annual cruises, and teaching himself to play the drums.
