Goldie Lea Lee was born November 16, 1923, in Lincoln County, Oklahoma, to Everett Clarence Cowger and Beulah Mae Carpenter Cowger. She died Thursday, January 13, 2022, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 98 years. Goldie completed her secondary education then attended college for two years. She was married September 22, 1998, in Cleveland, Oklahoma, to James F. Lee. Goldie spent most of her working life as an administrator with the Oklahoma State Employment Service. She was a strong woman of faith and was a member of First Baptist Church in Owasso. She enjoyed a variety of pastimes including oil painting and reading. She also enjoyed traveling across the country seeing the sights.
Those she leaves behind include a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 46 years, Virgil W. Bean, second husband James F. Lee, two brothers, Wallace “Buddy” Cowger and Eddie Cowger, and two sisters, Nina Kirk and Delores Gill-McCarthy.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 27, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Owasso. Final resting place will be in Carney Cemetery in Carney, Oklahoma. The family requests memorial contributions be made to The Mission-FBCO, P.O. Box 1020, Owasso, Oklahoma, 74055. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
