Jerry Lynne HammerJerry Lynne Hammer was born August 9, 1954, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Joseph Lavoughn Hammer and Julia Willa Dean Jenkins Hammer. He died Sunday, February 27, 2022, in Tulsa at the age of 67 years. Jerry was reared and educated in Owasso, Oklahoma, and graduated with the Owasso High School Class of 1972. He continued his education with Carpenters Apprenticeship School that would launch his career as a talented carpenter and home builder. Jerry was married May 24, 1974, in Collinsville, Oklahoma, to Bonnie Logsdon. He spent most of his working life as the owner of Hammer Construction. Jerry was a strong man of faith and was an avid student of the Bible. He studied at Colorado Christian University and XPlore Nations Bible College. He was a faithful member of CommonGround Church in Tulsa. Jerry enjoyed a variety of pastimes including traveling with Bonnie to various destinations, taking road trips on Route 66 with his brother, Joe, and fishing with Joe and also his granddaughter, Maddy. Before pulmonary fibrosis began impacting his life, Jerry was a runner and a triathlete. He enjoyed swimming and water-skiing. He climbed a 14er (14,000 feet) mountain with a friend in September of 2017. Jerry liked going to car shows and he was an avid Oklahoma Sooner fan. Most important was spending time with his family. He was especially fond of his role as “Grandpa”.

Two sons; Aaron Hammer and his wife Lindsay, of Jenks, Oklahoma
Lucas Hammer and his wife Joy, of Denver, Colorado
Granddaughters; Madison Grace Hammer and Zoe Ann Hammer
Brother; Joe Hammer and wife Byrdi, of Kiefer, Oklahoma
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Julie Payne
 
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2022, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Celebration of Life will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at Discovery Church in Collinsville, Oklahoma, with Pastor Tom Dillingham of CommonGround Church officiating. Committal service and interment will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville, Oklahoma. The family requests memorial contributions be made in Jerry’s memory to CommonGround Church, 7810 East 49th Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma, 74145. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
