Edna Mathews Anthony departed this life Wednesday, December 21, 2022, in Catoosa, Oklahoma, at the age of 91 years. She was one of six children born November 28, 1931, to Ruth and Alec Mathews of Muskogee, Oklahoma. She completed her secondary education in Muskogee and was a graduate of Muskogee High School. She married fellow Muskogee native, Jack Anthony, on October 21, 1953. They were married for over 51 years before Jack’s passing in 2005. Edna and Jack were longtime faithful members of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Tulsa where Edna was active with the Women’s Missionary Union for many years.
Edna’s two careers were first and foremost being an at-home mom to her three daughters. She later worked as an administrative assistant for State Farm, Silvey and Mid-Continent insurance companies.

A celebration of Edna’s Life will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 29, 2022, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso with Pastor Chad Balthrop officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be Jack Dunn, James Dunn, John Dunn, Lyndell Dunn, and Greg Blackburn. Final resting place will be at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
