Shaina Marie Ditch, age 41, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family in Owasso, Oklahoma, on Thursday, April 11, 2024. Shaina stood in victory over brain cancer for nearly a decade before gracefully parting this earth to be with her heavenly Father.
Shaina was born on February 27, 1983, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Lawrence “Larry” Eugene Helton and Teresa Ann Carpenter Helton. She grew up in Owasso, Oklahoma, and graduated from Owasso High School in 2001. After high school, Shaina studied at Tulsa Community College and Rogers State University, where she earned her Bachelor’s in Business Administration and Human Resources. Shaina spent most of her professional career working in human resources at St. John Health System.
On September 8, 2007, Shaina married her best friend Patrick Ditch. Together, they brought two beautiful daughters into this world, Emma and Avery. Shaina deeply cherished and loved her daughters, pouring gracefulness and poise into them daily. Patrick and Shaina raised their family in Owasso, where they attended Life Church. Shaina loved her family and many people who called her friends. While Shaina found a way to enjoy many aspects of life, including traveling, shopping, and hosting friends and family by her pool, her true passion was giving to and putting others first. To anyone blessed enough to have met Shaina even once had their life changed for the better. Shaina had a God-given ability to make the people around her want to be better human beings. Shaina loved, supported, cared for, helped, listened to, guided, consoled, counseled, and encouraged more people in her short time on this earth than most people could do in two lifetimes. Shaina did nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit but rather, in humility, valuing others above herself (Phil 2:3).
Shaina was a strong fighter and a beautiful person inside and out. Her smile, warmth, and personality would fill any room with laughter and love. She cared deeply for her family and friends that surrounded her. May we strive to follow her example and touch every life around us for the better. There are no words to express how deeply she will be missed, nor how grateful we are to have had her on this earth.
Shaina is survived by her loving husband of over 17 years, Patrick Ditch, their two amazing daughters, Emma and Avery, and their precious lab, Bella, as well as her mother, Teresa Helton, brother, Ryan Helton, nephew, Elijah Helton, and a host of loved extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Helton, maternal grandparents, Marie and Jim Carpenter, and paternal grandparents, Jeri and Lewis “Buzzy” Helton.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Life Church in Owasso at 12:00 noon on Friday, May 10, 2024, with Pastor Richie Leber officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Shaina’s memory to the American Brain Tumor Association, 8550 W. Bryn Mawr Avenue, Suite 550, Chicago, Illinois, 60631, or at www.abta.org. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
