Emma Jean Welch was born March 3, 1936, in Yeager, Oklahoma, to John Dewey Kibby, Sr., and Lula Mary Gentry Kibby. She died Wednesday, July 3, 2024, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 88 years. Jean completed her secondary education in Yeager, Oklahoma, and was a graduate of Yeager High School. She was married April 10, 1955, in Holdenville, Oklahoma, to Charles David Welch. Jean spent most of her working life as a homemaker caring for her family, as well as being a pastor’s wife. She was a strong woman of faith and was active with her husband for many years at several churches including Ralston First Baptist, New Life Church, and Willeo Baptist Church.
Jean enjoyed a variety of pastimes including cooking and sewing. She was a talented seamstress, and made many Barbie doll clothes and Halloween costumes. She dearly loved her grandchildren who affectionately knew her as “Super Grandma”.

And a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lula Kibby, Husband David Welch, and 12 brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2024, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel with Reverend Dale Gowdy officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be Matthew Nelson, Caden Nelson, Eli Smith, Carl Toothman III, A.J. Wright, and David Nelson. Committal service and interment will follow at Graceland Memorial Park Cemetery in Owasso. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso.
