Oklahoma has made a remarkable leap in U-Haul’s Growth States list for 2024, climbing 30 spots to secure the 11th position. This milestone marks the largest year-over-year improvement of any state in the nation.

The significant rise reflects an increasing trend of individuals and families relocating to Oklahoma in search of better opportunities and a more affordable lifestyle.

The U-Haul Growth States list tracks the net gain or loss of customers utilizing one-way U-Haul equipment to move within a calendar year. As considerations such as cost of living, job availability, and quality of life weigh heavily in relocation decisions, many are finding Oklahoma to be an attractive destination.

“Migration to the Southeast and Southwest continues as families gauge their cost of living, job opportunities, quality of life, and other factors that go into relocating to a new state,” said John “J.T.” Taylor, president of U-Haul International. Oklahoma’s surge in popularity aligns with this trend, further highlighting the state’s growing appeal.

Meanwhile, for the fifth consecutive year, California ranked 50th on the list, experiencing the greatest net loss of residents.
