A little piece of Tulsa can be spotted in New York City, Hollywood, and on tour worldwide. Local Jewelry designer, Jill Donovan, is the founder of Rustic Cuff, a jewelry company that blends organic and glamorous, rustic and refined into seamless style. Her cuffs have been spotted on the wrists of music icons Adam Levine, Miranda Lambert, and Britney Spears as well as celebrities Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Giuliana Rancic, Lara Spencer and more.
These cuffs, now topping celebrity “favorite things” lists, started small in the summer of 2011. On the floor of Jill Donovan’s guest bedroom, Jill decided to create the perfect cuff. After a lifelong obsession with all things cuffs, Jill began to teach herself, in the middle of the night, the art of leather making and metal designs. Her passion for quality and unique designs helped Rustic Cuff to expand from a basic leather cuff line into an entire collection including exotic skins, original design collections and a selection of one of a kind sterling silver monogram cuffs.
It didn’t take long for others to notice the Tulsa artist as Rustic Cuff was honored with the QVC Sprouts Award in 2012 for favorite new product. The cuffs have also been featured several times on Good Morning America.
With nationwide recognition and high praise from her peers, Jill’s commitment to personal attention and unique quality has remained the same. I visited her recently at her Tulsa showroom and was immediately struck by the excitement and dedication Jill and her team have for creating jewelry that is personal as well as high quality.
I watched as artisans worked with whole stingray skins as they carefully selected which section would be used to create a cuff with the unique markings of the stingray. Each and every piece was carefully created by the Rustic Cuff team with attention to detail and an awareness that the cuff should be the best it can be when it reaches its destination.
What’s next for Rustic Cuff? Just ask Jill Donovan and you’ll see she has a lot more up her sleeve. The Fall Collection will include cuffs for young people as well as new materials.
With a loyal and increasing following, Rustic Cuff will continue to grow while staying firmly grounded in its Tulsa roots.
