Doris Marie Dunlap, resident of Owasso, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, August 21, 2013, two days short of her 91st birthday. Doris was born August 23, 1922 at Fort Worth, Texas to Albert and Alice (Norton) Green. She was raised and received her education in Fort Worth. On September 18, 1942, she and Lee B. Dunlap were united in marriage. Besides Fort Worth, they made their home in a variety of locations due to his work with Gulf Oil Corporation. Among the places they lived were Midland, TX, Roswell, NM and Kermit, TX. Doris worked as a secretary in both the legal and oil related businesses. She also worked in the County Clerk’s office in Kermit, TX, retiring in 1976. She and Lee later moved to near Gans in Sequoyah County of Oklahoma. On June 14, 2002 Lee preceded her in death. Doris has called Owasso home since February of 2011. She was a loving and caring lady, also enjoying people. Music was a passion, having been a church pianist for many years at different churches that they were involved with. She was most recently a member of the Owasso First Assembly.
Doris is survived by a daughter Patricia Polvado and husband Rev. Robert L. Polvado of Owasso, OK; a son Don L. Dunlap and his wife Faith of Woodstock, Georgia; grandchildren – Leanne Benton & husband Alan of Tulsa, OK, Lee L. Dunlap and wife Jamie of Prosper, TX and Lamarque Polvado & wife Jackie of Rosanky, TX. Also surviving are seven great grandchildren – Morgan, Mandy & Marshal Dunlap, Ashlyn, Noah & Grace Polvado and Bella Benton. Besides her husband, Doris was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Cecil L. Green, a sister Dorothy Tomkinson and a son Weldon R. Dunlap in 1977.
Local visitation will be at Mowery Funeral Service on Saturday, August 24th from 1pm – 4pm. Services will be Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at 1:30 pm in the Mt. Olivet Funeral Home Chapel, Fort Worth, TX. Burial will be next to her husband Lee in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Local arrangements were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso. www.moweryfs.com
