Owasso Police responded to reports of slashed tires at the Owasso Community Center Saturday morning.
Vandals caused damage to at least 4 vehicles overnight, that were parked in lot at 301 South Cedar. Tires were flattened on the Owasso Community Center Senior Activities Van, as well as three Pelivan Transit Vehicles.
Vandalism is the deliberate defacement, mutilation, or destruction of private or public property. It is not a “harmless prank.” Vandals are criminals because they destroy property, waste time and money, and cause suffering to others. Why? That’s my question. While millions of incidents of vandalism are reported every year, at least twice as many incidents are not reported.
According to a Small Business Administration Report, over $814 million dollars is lost as a result of vandalism each year. If you own a business, you have to pay part of the cost of this damage. Even if you don’t own a business, part of that cost will be passed on to you through higher prices.
