Betty Jo Heinrichs, resident of Owasso, passed from this life on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at the Evergreen Care Center. She was 82 years of age. Betty Jo was born July 27, 1931 at Collinsville to Olin and Hazel (Lee) Burnside. She was raised and received her education there, graduating Collinsville High School. She then attended Cottey College and later Oklahoma A & M (now Oklahoma State University) where she received herteaching degree. On May 25, 1952 Betty Jo married her high school sweetheart Raymond Lee Heinrichs at the Collinsville Community Church. Betty Jo was a elementary teacher in the Collinsville Public Schools where she shared her passion for teaching. She was a longtime member of the Community Church where she sang in the choir; Betty Jo had also been a member of the PEO Chapter for 64 years.
Those that survive include her daughter – Malinda Palmer and husband Charles; son in law Danny Fleetwood and his wife Angela; grandchildren Deavon Mattox and husband John, Morgan Gillispie, Callie Fleetwood, Zephaniah Fleetwood; step grandchildren Brian Palmer and wife Samantha, Haley Palmer; great grandchild Josie Gray Mattox and step great grandchild Aiden Dean Mayes. Betty Jo was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond Lee on January 2, 2004, a daughter Hazel Denise Fleetwood and a sister Patricia Wilson.
Visitation for Betty Jo will be held Wednesday, October 23, 2013 from 5pm – 7pm at Mowery Funeral Service; and graveside services will be Thursday at 11:00 am at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Collinsville with Son in law Danny Fleetwood officiating. The PEO Chapter will also be doing part of the service in honor of Betty. The family has requested that those who would like to honor Betty Jo’s memory may do so by contributing to the Memorial Fund at Collinsville Community Church, 1423 West Oak St., Collinsville, OK 74021. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
