Arvel Roberts, JR of the Claremore-Verdigris area, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2017 at the age of 72 years. Arvel was born December 30, 1944 in Norfolk, Virginia to Arvel and Dorothy (Bates) Roberts. He was raised and received his education in Decatur, Arkansas and graduating from Gentry High School in nearby Gentry, Arkansas. The majority of his life was spent in the Tulsa/Verdigris area where he worked as an automotive parts salesman. Arvel loved classic cars and at one time was a member of a Classic Car Club.
Those that survive include his sons – Bryan and Brandon Roberts, both of Claremore; two sisters – Orva (Lucy) Banks and husband Otto of Keller, Texas and Carol A. Abella of Ojai, California; and a brother Ralph Roberts of Tulsa, OK. Arvel was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services for Arvel will be held on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso with Rev. Dave Mewbourne of Claremore First Assembly officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso. www.moweryfs.com
