Question:
I have a lot of freckles on my face. Is that a bad thing? Should I be concerned?
Answer:
Freckles in and of themselves are not a bad thing. They appear in childhood and are usually genetic. They are usually found in people with fair complexions. They tend to fade during the winter and worsen with sun exposure. The use of sunscreen can prevent the appearance of new freckles.
While freckles themselves are not a problem, people with fair skin are at a higher risk for some forms of skin cancer related to sun exposure. You should make sure you are protecting yourself with sunscreen and reapplying frequently when in the sun.
