Services for Betty Jane (Just) Smith will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017, at First Christian Church sanctuary in downtown Tulsa. Enter on the east side of church. Visitation is from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2017, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Betty passed from this life peacefully in her sleep on July 18, 2017 in McKinney, Texas. She was born November 26, 1925 in Collinsville, Oklahoma to Ed and Florence Just. Betty married Grover Hayward Smith on August 19, 1945, after Hayward returned home from service in the Navy during World War II. They operated Smith Dairy in Owasso for over 40 years and sold part of the land for what is now the Smith Farm Marketplace. Betty and Hayward were loyal members of First Christian Church in Tulsa.
Betty is survived by three children, Dianne Smith Kesinger, Donna Smith Davis, and Joe Edward Smith. Grandchildren are David Kesinger, Cara Schad, Jill Hartsell, and Marcia Blackney. Great-grandchildren include: Annabel, Anderson, Lauren, Caitlin, Alexander, Brenna, Allison and Brian.
Betty loved weaving on her looms and tole painting. She enjoyed cooking for her family and entertaining with her church group. Both Betty and Hayward traveled the world to exciting places like China, Europe, Russia, and the Caribbean but most of all they enjoyed their road trips around the USA to find treasured antiques.
Betty was a lifetime cat lover. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Owasso Animal Shelter or the First Christian church of Tulsa operating fund. www.moweryfs.com
