Charles Gann, Jr., resident of North Tulsa, passed away Wednesday evening, March 13, 2013 at the age of 84. Charles was born August 29, 1928 at Seminole, OK to Charles Sr. and Minnie (Bennett) Gann, At an early age, the family moved to Checotah where he was raised and received his education. On July 16, 1953, he and Armelda Deane Estep were united in marriage at Bentonville, Arkansas. To this union, six children were born. Charles worked for many years as a produce manager for Sam’s Thrifty-wise and Best-Yet groceries. He was also a Free Will Baptist evangelist holding services for many area churches. Charles was a member of the Cornerstone Free Will Baptist Church, rural Owasso. After retirement from the grocery business, he began a yard service business, which he enjoyed immensely; but besides his family, Charles enjoyed performing marriages for countless couples.
Those that survive include his wife of 59 years Armelda; six children – Charles Gann of Ozark, Alabama, Michael Gann of Enterprise, Alabama, JoAnn Edwards of Collinsville, Vicki Bono of Tulsa, Connie Stewart of Owasso and Pamela Rarick of Yelm, Washington; one sister Hazel Whittle of Oktaha, OK; 16 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by his parents and a great grandson Ricky.
Services for Charles were held at 2:00 PM Sunday, March 17, 2013 at the Cornerstone Free Will Baptist Church with Dr. Curtis Linton officiating. Visitation will be from 4pm – 6pm on Saturday, March 16th at Mowery Funeral Service. Private family committal rites will be on Monday, March 18, 2013 at the Graceland Memorial Park Cemetery, Owasso. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
