10-bout event features up-and-coming boxing stars
TULSA, Okla. – For the first time in more than two years of events at The Joint, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa officials are hosting a night of thrilling boxing matches July 19 that is co-headlined by an undefeated Cherokee boxer.
Cherokee Fight Club will feature some of the nation’s top ranked fighters, as well as local up-and-coming fighters, including the undefeated heavyweight Wes “The Cherokee Warrior” Nofire (11-0).
Tickets start at $32 and are currently on sale.
The Cherokee Fight Club card will be packed with back-to-back bouts between some of the nation’s top ranked boxers, including co-main events featuring world ranked super middleweight Dyah “Ali” Davis (21-3) and Nofire. Fights begin at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m.
“Since turning professional in boxing, I have learned the ins and outs of the sport and see a great opportunity to bring exciting, world-class boxing to the Cherokee Nation,” Nofire said. “There hasn’t been much noise made lately in Oklahoma regarding boxing, and I intend to change that. This fight night will be high energy, and I cannot wait to see the crowd’s reaction after they witness some of the best boxing the sport has to offer.”
Boxer turned promoter Nofire, 27, lined up a 10-bout fight card featuring Davis in an eight-round super middleweight bout, and himself in a heavyweight bout. Other matches will feature mixed martial arts star Codale Ford putting on the boxing gloves, as well as super middleweight Bo Gibbs (8-0) and other local boxers who intend to prove themselves in the boxing ring.
As part of the night’s events, Cherokee professional athletes Ryan Dirteater and Jason Christie will be on site signing autographs for fans prior to the start of the fights. Dirteater, a professional bull rider, has been making a name for himself on the PBR circuit, the biggest stage in bull riding. Christie, a professional angler, climbed his way to the top of the world rankings in bass fishing in April, after winning a tournament in Arkansas.
Weigh-ins will be held on July 18 at 6 p.m. inside The Joint for fans and media.
Nofire Entertainment will donate a portion of the proceeds from the July 19 fights to the victims devastated by the recent tornadoes that tore through central Oklahoma.
