David Williams Burns was born on March 30, 1948, in Phillips, Texas to William “Bill” Edgar Burns and Geraldine “Gerry” (McCarty) Burns. He passed from this life on Sunday, July 2, 2023, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 75 years. David attended High School in Dewey, Oklahoma where he graduated with the Class of 1966. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. David was married on August 21, 1971, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Jean Elizabeth (Reed) Burns. He began his career as head cashier for the First National Bank of Dewey before working for Phillips Petroleum Company as a systems analyst in the Treasury Department. David began construction and owned Burns Construction for many years. Some time later he was hired as the vending manager of Bartlesville Coca Cola and later was transferred to the Oklahoma City office for continued work. He later served as the Key Accounts Manager for Pepsi Cola and was finally employed with Blair Vending company in Edmond.
David was a longtime faithful member of Lakehoma Church of Christ in Mustang, Oklahoma where he served as an Elder for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed a variety of past times such as reading, theology, sports, singing, finance and economics, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Gerry, and his brother, Jim.
