Dorothy Maxine Smith was born December 10, 1932, in Arkansas City, Kansas, to Mark Hanner White and Nellie Lee Foust. She died Friday, July 2, 2023, in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 90 years. Dorothy was reared and educated in Arkansas City, and graduated with the Arkansas City High School Class of 1950. She was married November 12, 1950, in Arkansas City to Charles William Smith. Charles spent many years on a field service team and brought many adventures for he and Dorothy as they traveled all around the United States spending time in every state. In 1966, Dorothy and Charles settled in the small community of Owasso, Oklahoma.
Dorothy was a strong woman of faith and a member of the Free Will Baptist Church, most recently playing the piano at Calvary Free Will Baptist Church. Over the years, she served in various positions in the church including children’s Sunday School teacher, organist, as well as singing in the choir.
Dorothy enjoyed a variety of pastimes including gospel and bluegrass music. She played the guitar in a bluegrass band along with Charles for many years performing in bluegrass shows, nursing homes, or just jamming with anyone who wanted to play. She and Charles were also members of the Model A Ford Club. Over the years she enjoyed gardening and canning. She was also a talented seamstress, sewing many outfits for family and friends. In recent years she enjoyed visiting with friends and playing games. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and many great grandchildren and friends.

Michael Smith and wife Megan, of Norman, Oklahoma
Great grandchildren; Finn Smith, Juniper Smith, Aaro Smith, all of Fort Worth, Texas
Corbin Smith and Ember Smith, of Derby, Kansas
Maeva Smith, of Norman, Oklahoma
Brother; Ivan White, of Dewey, Oklahoma
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Charles Smith, and infant son Michael Alan Smith.
And a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 2023, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 24, 2023, at the Collinsville Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Leonard Pirtle and Herman Wood officiating. Final resting place will be next to her husband at the Riverview Cemetery in Arkansas City, Kansas. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
