Tonette (Toni) England-Morris, longtime resident of the Owasso area, died Friday, January 19, 2018, at her home surrounded by family after a battle with brain cancer. Born July 10, 1944, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Alma and Anthony Moeller, Toni received a Bachelor of Science in Communication from the University of Tulsa in the late 1960’s. She later returned to education in the 1980’s receiving a BS, MS, and finally a PhD in Psychology from Oklahoma State University. In April of 1999, she married Robert Morris and began a new chapter of life together. In the 1960’s, Toni worked as a reporter for Channel 2 News in Tulsa and in New York as a planner for City Services as well as an artist. Later shifting careers in the 1980’s, she held various positions as a counselor and social worker and, after earning her PhD, a therapist at Laureate Hospital in Tulsa. Finally, she settled into private practice where she helped countless people, leaving an unforgettable legacy of healing. Toni loved good food, travel, and hosting guests. Her greatest joy was a house filled with her children, grandchildren and family, including the many friends she embraced.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Robert, son Eric England, his wife Stephanie, son Scott England, and his wife Kate, son Thomas Morris, and his wife Jennifer, daughter Amanda, seven grandchildren, and her adoring and loving “Louisiana” family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Alma Moeller, and her son Brent England.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2018, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso with Dr. Jim Cinocca officiating.
