D HornbackDudley A. Hornback was born November 20, 1924, in Mansfield, Arkansas, to John Martin and Beatrice (Johnson) Hornback. He died Monday, March 21, 2016, in Keetonville, Oklahoma, at the age of 91 years. Dudley was reared and educated at Howe, Oklahoma. He was a veteran of the armed forces having served his country honorably with the United States Army during World War II. He was a private with the 29th Infantry when he landed on Omaha Beach in Normandy on D-Day on June 6, 1944. His decorations and citations included the World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Award, American Theater Campaign Medal, EAME Campaign Medal with four Bronze Stars and Bronze Arrowhead. He was honorably discharged in December of 1945 and returned stateside. He was married August 7, 1948, in Waldron, Arkansas, to Helen Ruth Epley. Dudley spent most of his working life as a reprographic printer with Texaco in Houston, Texas. He was a member of the Texaco American Legion and had served as Commander. Upon his retirement in 1982, He and Helen decided to relocate to the Keetonville area where they have made their home since 1984. He was a faithful member of Hilldale Baptist Church in Keetonville where he served as a deacon. Dudley enjoyed a variety of pastimes, but had become very talented in crafting and working with stained glass. He also enjoyed the relaxing time of sitting at his home and watching the deer.

Brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Jowanna Hornback, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma
And a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Oral Hornback and Glen Hornback, and a sister, Neoma Lewis.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 24, 2016, at Hilldale Baptist Church in Keetonville, Oklahoma, with Pastor Earl Skaggs and Vernon Lewis officiating. Graveside services will follow that afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at Howe Cemetery in Howe, Oklahoma. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Folds of Honor Foundation, 5800 North Patriot Drive, Owasso, Oklahoma, 74055. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
