11/13/2016. Just before 10:00pm Saturday evening, an accident involving a motorcycle and two other vehicles was reported in the 8300 block of US HWY 169 northbound.
When emergency crews arrived, the driver of the motorcycle, 41 year old Steven Thompson of Newalla, Oklahoma was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers tell us that Thompson had been stopped on the side of the roadway for unknown reasons. When he accelerated to re-enter the roadway, he was hit by a Ford Explorer driven by a Tulsa driver. Mr. Thompson was subsequently thrown into the path of a Lexis, driven by an Owasso resident.
As with any fatality accident, routine toxicology blood work was done on all drivers.
Highway 169 northbound was closed for several hours during the investigation.
The accident is still under investigation by the Owasso Police Department.
