Florence Irene Sharpe was born November 14, 1934, in Erie, Pennsylvania, to Stanley Frank and Mary Wanda Baranowski Zylka. She died Monday, May 17, 2021, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 86 years. Florence was reared and educated in Erie, Pennsylvania, and graduated with the McDowell High School Class of 1952. She was married January 1, 1955, in Erie to Daniel F. Sharpe. They moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1964 before making their home in Owasso in 1969. Florence spent most of her working life as a homemaker and caring for her family. She also spent over 20 years as a crossing guard at Mills Elementary in Owasso. She was a longtime faithful member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Tulsa where she served on the SPRC Committee and Nominating Committee. Florence enjoyed a variety of pastimes including traveling and spending time cooking. Most important to her was her family, kids, family get-togethers and particularly her role as “Grandma”. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 2021, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Tulsa with Reverend Michelle McCarty and Reverend Steve Holestine officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Zachary Sharpe, Becca Romere, Aaron Sharpe, Kathryn Sharpe Purcell, Bobby Adams, Daniel Sharpe, and Elizabeth Sharpe Young. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Sharpe, Nick Purcell, Ryan Young, Matt Sharpe, Mark Sharpe, Ron Folsom and Kendell Romere. Committal service and interment will follow at Graceland Memorial Park Cemetery in Owasso. The family requests memorial contributions be made in memory of Florence Sharpe to St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 10513 East Admiral Place, Tulsa, Oklahoma, 74116-2531, or the American Therapeutic Riding Center, at www.atrcok.org .
