George Edward Floyd was born October 22, 1930, in Valliant, Oklahoma, to Vester Lee and Rhoda Mae Beavers Floyd. He died Wednesday, October 23, 2013, in Talala, Oklahoma, at the age of 83 years. George was reared and educated at Valliant and was a 1948 graduate of Valliant High School. He was a veteran of the armed forces having served his country honorably with the Unites States Air Force during the Korean War. He was married November 19, 1955, at Valliant, to Dixie Lea Stimson. They had made their home in Talala since 1973. George spent most of his working life as a machinist with American Airlines in Tulsa. He enjoyed a variety of pastimes, especially hunting, fishing, and camping.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Sam Floyd, Buster Stuart, and Leon Stuart.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 27, 2013, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso, Oklahoma. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at Central Baptist Church in Owasso with Pastor Scott Carlson officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be Bob Funderburgh, Dale Floyd, Lucas, Floyd, Larry Curtis, Wesley Curtis, Michael Murphy, Levi Kreps, and Floyd Earl Stuart. Committal services and interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Talala, Oklahoma. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Central Baptist Church Building Fund, 9001 North 145th East Avenue, Owasso, Oklahoma, 74055. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
