Spread the love

Grace “Gerce/Aunt Gracie” Marie Moats was a devoted wife, mother, granny, great-granny, aunt and friend.

Grace was born to Arlie Jefferson Owens and Ina Marie Woodcock Owens February 13, 1933, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She left this world peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 91 years. She will be laid to rest at Graceland Memorial Park Cemetery in Owasso.

After graduating high school from Tulsa Central High School, grace spent most of her working career at two jobs working as the office manager at Allied Steel Construction Company and then working in accounting at Crosby McKissick Group. After retiring from Crosby, she moved to working at her most enjoyable position for 22 years as a crossing guard for Owasso Public Schools where she ended her working career at the age of 89. It’s never a job when you love it so much that you are willing to tell your boss that you would work for free. Grace had a passion for children and making sure they were safe while crossing the street at her intersection. She had grown so many relationships during those 22 years with the children and their parents that even up to her final days she still talked about them and loved receiving cards for Christmas from them all the way up to December of 2024.

Grace had several hobbies that she enjoyed including being a part of bowling leagues, crocheting, completing word search puzzles, and simply enjoying sitting outside watching the butterflies and hummingbirds. She was known for baking pies frequently and meals for family. You could also find her at the Ultimate Texas Hold’em or Blackjack table at the casino surrounded by family and friends. You just had to make sure you watched out if she had orange juice and her son Larry was by her. She loved going to the Owasso baseball field and Owasso volleyball games supporting her sons and grandkids throughout the many years. Before every baseball trip you would also find Grace standing at the buses with snacks for the baseball coaches that she had prepared.

Although she would never admit it out loud, everyone knew that Dodger was her favorite grandson and Meghann was her favorite grandchild. However, if you were to ask them, there is still great debate on who the favorite actually is.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents, seven siblings, and husband, Dayton Moats.
