Gregory Joseph McCall passed away on September 29th, 2020 at his home in Sperry, OK at the age of 64. Greg was born in Kinsley, KS on September 13, 1956 to Ralph and Betty Mae McCall. He is preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents: Ed and Mary Droste; and Ernie and Eleanor McCall. He is survived by his wife, Kim McCall of Sperry; daughter Kayla Williams and son-in-law Eric of Owasso, OK; son Kyle McCall and daughter-in-law Sarah of Jones, OK; son Kevin McCall and daughter-in-law Karin of Stillwater, OK; and his two brothers Brad McCall and Gary McCall and one sister Kathy Ankle.
Greg was the proud grandpa of Brooklyn, Avery and Easton Williams of Owasso; Jakob and Savannah McCall of Jones; and Tyler, Brooke and Willis Gibson of Stillwater.
Greg was an avid fisherman and hunter who was happiest when spending time with his family and friends. He was also a passionate Green Bay Packers fan who spent many Sundays on the frozen tundra or in front of a TV watching his favorite team. He enjoyed being outside, ordering new gadgets and making things with his hands. Greg had a contagious laugh; an infamous sigh and a bright smile that earned him friends wherever he went and ensured we always had someone to poke fun at…of which nobody was immune from his ornery sense of humor and playful jabs. Everyone knew they better come ready for a battle of wits when Greg was around!
Greg grew up in southwestern Kansas and graduated from Spearville High School in 1974 before marrying the love of his life, Kimberly Ann Shafer on May 21st, 1977. Greg graduated from Northwest Kansas Technical School in 1980 and then began his 37-year telecommunications career in the oil and gas industry. His career led him out of Kansas and into a life of different adventures with Kim and his family in Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Colorado, Illinois and finally back to Oklahoma where he was blessed to spend his final years living in his dream home near his kids and grandkids.
Grandpa Greg will be dearly missed, and we can’t wait to see him again. Until then, we know he will be looking down on us with all the same laughs, sighs and smiles we deserve.
Graveside service will be on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at 1:00 pm at St. John Cemetery in Spearville, Kansas. We will be observing social distancing and masks are preferred.
