After 85 years, Helen Louise Jackson Keenen closed her eyes at Oxford Glen Memory Care and woke up in Jesus’ arms on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 7:49 p.m. in Owasso, Oklahoma. Helen was born July 28, 1939, at home in Senatobia, Mississippi, to John Taylor and Margaret Virginia Word Jackson.
Helen’s family moved from Mississippi to California in 1952. Helen was married on June 12, 1955, in Barstow, California, to Edwin Lee Keenen. She graduated from Barstow Union High School in 1958. In the summer of 1972, Helen and Edwin moved their family to Owasso, Oklahoma. Helen was a longtime faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church in Owasso where she taught Sunday School, Bible School, sang in the choir, and served wherever she was needed. She had a passion for sewing, crafting, and enjoyed camping. She loved being involved in her kid’s lives. Once she became a Granny, her grandchildren were the love of her life.


Those preceding Helen in death are her beloved husband of 54 years, Edwin Lee Keenen; her parents, her two brothers, John Taylor (Bud) Jackson and Donnie Jackson; and three sisters, Betty Wickard, Doris Madden, and Mary Ann Tomlin.

She leaves her family in God’s care, cherishing her memories: Son and daughter-in-law Keith and Lisa Keenen of Claremore, Oklahoma; Daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Jim Schraad of Collinsville, Oklahoma; and daughter and son-in-law Kandra and Jim Dandridge of Collinsville, Oklahoma; Four grandchildren: Kameron and Katie Keenen, Avonlea and Justin Barnes, Kaleb Dandridge, and Karsten Dandridge; Seven great-grandchildren: Savanna, Annalissa, Hannah, Joanna, Brianna, Annaniah, and Eowyn; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 6, 2024, at Bethel Baptist Church in Owasso, Oklahoma. The visitation will be held at Bethel Baptist Church starting one hour before the service. Pastor Greg Keenen, Pastor Kirby Skaggs, and Pastor Bill Ascol will be officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be Kaleb Dandridge, Karsten Dandridge, Justin Barnes, Jeff Keenen, Kevin Bugg, and Dennis Sanchez. Honorary casket bearers will be David Keenen, Kameron Keenen, Andy Powell, and Ken Bug. Committal service and interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The family requests memorial contributions be made in Helen’s memory to the International Mission Board, 3806 Monument Avenue, Richmond, Virginia, 23230, or at www.imb.org. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
