Spread the love

by Junior Achievement Oklahoma

04/24/2019 –  Junior Achievement does it again! Only a month ago, Oakland Raider’s wide receiver, Keon Hatcher inspired students to keep working hard.  On April 26th, community and business volunteers join as the “Village of Owasso” to help all of their 8th-grade students prepare for their future.  Using the Junior Achievement It’s My Future program, the volunteers will spend most of the day in the classroom alongside teachers to help students learn about how to build their brand, why soft and technical skills are equally important and how to choose, maintain, and build a career.

WHAT:  The JA It’s My Future program is being provided free of charge to the school by JA donors. All of JA’s curriculum is written to be delivered by a volunteer. The Owasso community volunteers have been trained by JA staff on how to use the curriculum in the classroom with students. Each volunteer has been matched with a classroom teacher to teach 6 lessons that focus on introducing students to career paths and clusters, high growth career areas and how to get a job and what skills are needed to keep it.

WHO: Volunteers from local businesses, churches, and banks, etc. will be partnered with a teacher in each 8th-grade class to teach 6 lessons from the Junior Achievement It’s My Future program.
