Jackie Lou Chavis was born December 11, 1946, in Stockton, California, to Roger Clifford Hinton and Jessie Vera Oleta Hood Hinton. She died Sunday, May 19, 2024, in Sperry, Oklahoma, at the age of 77 years. Jackie completed her secondary education in Owasso, Oklahoma, and graduated with the Owasso High School Class of 1965. She was married June 18, 1966, in Owasso, to Lawrence Chavis. She spent most of her working life as a homemaker and caring for family.
Jackie enjoyed a variety of pastimes, especially time spent fishing as well as playing Bingo. She was particularly fond of her role as “Grandma Jackie” to her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Vera Hinton, sisters, Oleta, Imadale, and Charlene, and brother, Clifford Hinton.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Graveside funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2024, at the committal shelter of Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, Oklahoma, with David Hinton officiating. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
