Jay Russell Daniels was born January 27, 1960, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to Harvey Kenneth and Joyce Elaine (Fields) Daniels. He died Saturday, January 21, 2017, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 56 years. Jay was raised and educated in Owasso, Oklahoma and graduated with the Owasso High School Class of 1978. After high school he followed his passion for football to Haskell Junior College where he played Tight End and broke offensive records that still stand and earned his Associates Degree. He was once married to Twilia Bearcub and to this union were the birth of his children Jade, June, Jesse, and Jace. His children were the apple of his eye, and he supported them in their sporting events and would travel wherever the events were held in the tri-state area. Jay worked for the Federal Government for 27 years in various positions. Jay spent most of his working life as a Real Estate Officer for the Federal Government Bureau of Indian Affairs. Jay was passionate about serving the Native American community. In 2001 Jay and Kayla began their life together later married in 2011 in Hastings, Minnesota. Kayla was his soul mate and the love of his life. Jay retired in 2012, and moved back home to Owasso, Oklahoma where he and Kayla were planning to retire and live the rest of their lives. He was an avid University of Oklahoma fan and supporter and enjoyed fishing, and blogging, creating the website “roundhousetalk.com.” Jay also loved posting the “Cherokee Word of the Day,” and would write it out and explain it using biblical terminology. Jay became an ordained Minister in his early twenties in California and spent many years working in youth ministry. One of his students stated they loved bible study he taught and especially the blue berry cheese cake he would bring to class.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Daniels, and grandparents, June and A.B. Gus Fields.
Prayer Vigil will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, January 26, 2017, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 10:30 Friday, January 27, 2017, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso with Blue Hot House officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be Kevin Shappley, Daniel Shappley, Bryan Shappley, Christen Rhodes, Tony Daniels, and Dylan Daniels. Interment will follow at Sandridge Cemetery.
