John C. McCartt was born March 16, 1932, at Fort Mountain, Tennessee, the 7th of 11 children to John Hauk McCartt and Turrah McCartt. He died Tuesday, August 13, 2013, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 81 years. He was married March 31, 1953, in Indiana, to Betty West. John worked in construction as a boilermaker in nuclear plants throughout California. He retired in 1987 at which time he and Betty moved to Reno, Nevada, before relocating to Oklahoma to be near their son Mark and his family. John has been active in the Prime Timers group of Rejoice Church in Owasso. He enjoyed a variety of pastimes including camping and fishing, playing pool at the Owasso Community Center, playing dominoes, and working in the yard. He loved spending time with friends, but considered family his greatest blessing, and was affectionately known as Papo.

Kitty Mashburn and her husband Red, of Sweetwater, Tennessee
Judy Jennings, of Monroe, Michigan
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at Rejoice Church in Owasso with Pastor Leonard Pirtle officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be Mark McCartt, Jason McCartt, Josh McCartt, Jerry Kaase, Larry Cariker, and Bob Barnes. Interment will be at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville, Oklahoma. The family requests memorial contributions be made to The Rejoice Foundation, 13413 East 106th Street North, Owasso, Oklahoma, 74055. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
