John E. Mahl was born March 20, 1937, in Ratcliff, Arkansas, to Allie Francis Mahl and Agnes Cecilia Ullrich. He died Friday, February 23, 2024, in Collinsville, Oklahoma, at the age of 86 years. John completed his secondary education in Arkansas and was a graduate of County Line High School. He was married August 17, 1957, in Ratcliff, Arkansas, to Pat Nicholas. They moved to Tulsa in 1959, then made their home in Collinsville in 1973.
John spent over 37 years of his working life with Hinderliter Heat Treating in Tulsa, most of which were as a sales representative. He was a longtime faithful member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Owasso. He was also an active volunteer with the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Patrol. He enjoyed a variety of pastimes including hunting and fishing, camping, and spending time in his garden. He also enjoyed spending time with Pat traveling and square dancing. John dearly loved his grandchildren and was especially fond of his role as “Papa”.

Sisters; Shirley Brown, of Springdale, Arkansas
Linda Bradney and husband Dan, of Bella Vista, Arkansas
Brother; Ken Mahl and wife Cherie, of Tulsa, Oklahoma
Brother-in-law; Tom Nicholas and wife Tot, of Santa Paula, California
And a host of extended relatives and friends
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Loretta Goldsworthy
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church in Owasso, followed by a Rosary prayer service at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at St. Henry Catholic Church in Owasso. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at St. Henry Catholic Church with Father Matt LaChance and Father J. Richard Bradley officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be Jack Troxell, Neal Hardesty, Bruce Holden, Christopher Holden, Nicholas Holden, and Tom Nicholas. Private family disposition will be held at a later date. The family requests memorial contributions be made in John’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 7465 East 63rd Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma, 74133, or www.cancer.org . Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso.
