Joyce Marie Thurman was born October 23, 1954, in Independence, Kansas, to Leon and Bernetta (Vantrease) Bishop. She died Thursday, March 5, 2015, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 60 years. Joyce attended McClain High School and later completed her education at Independence Community College. She spent much of her working life as a homemaker and caring for her family. She enjoyed a variety of pastimes including reading and working TV Guide crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed planting and taking care of her flowers. Most important to Joyce was her family, especially her grandchildren. She took much pride in taking care of Zander and helping him with his homework.
Loving family members include: Two sons; Jerrold Thurman, Altoona, Kansas Charles Thurman, Owasso, Oklahoma Four grandchildren; Zander Thurman Heather Poeverlein and her husband Ernie Kieran Foster and his wife Tasha Kyle Foster Nine great grandchildren; Sharie Poeverlein, Lane Poeverlein, Xavier Poeverlein, Kieran Lee Foster, Cody Foster, Laynee Foster, Cameron Foster, Shyleigh Foster, And Jyslen Foster Sister; Linda Wheeler, Owasso Brother; Jimmy Bishop and his wife Judy, of Owasso Sister; Janice Mader and her husband Cecil, of Hillsborough, Kansas And numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2015, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso with Michele Dempster officiating. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso. www.moweryfs.com
