On 11/20/2014, at approximately 4:30 am, the Broken Arrow Police Department distributed a notification to area agencies to be on the lookout for a possible suicidal subject who had called 911 in their jurisdiction. At 5:11 am, an unidentified man called the Owasso Police Department 911 making threatening statements towards the public and police officers. OPD Communications Officers determined that it was the same person who had called Broken Arrow police earlier in the morning.

A crisis negotiator from the Owasso Police Department was able to reach the subject via telephone and he continued to threaten harm against the police, stating that he was armed with a gun and he would force the police to kill him. The negotiator was eventually able to calm the subject down and convince him to meet with officers to surrender.

At approximately 5:30 am, the subject arrived at the Owasso Police Department. Officers took the man into custody without incident in the parking lot and he was transported to the hospital for a mental evaluation. A large machete was recovered from the subject’s vehicle, but no firearms were located.

Due to the potential mental health issues, the subject’s identity is not being released. He is a 59 year old male with a listed address in Broken Arrow.
