Willie Margaret Colwell was born March 22, 1932, in Tyler, Texas, to Marvin Francis Hickman and Vedie Mae Bell Lockridge. She passed away Saturday, July 22, 2023, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 91 years. Margaret was reared and educated in Tyler, Texas, and graduated with the Tyler High School Class of 1949. She continued her education attending Tyler Commercial College. Margaret was married December 23, 1952, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Kenneth Ray Colwell. They followed their daughter’s family (and granddaughter) to Vernon, Texas and eventually to Owasso, Oklahoma in 1998.
Margaret began her career in 1949 in Tyler, Texas working as a secretary with Woolf and McGee Drilling Contractors before moving with her family to Corpus Christi, Texas in 1952. She then worked as an administrative assistant for Sun Oil Company until the birth of her daughter in 1953. She resumed her career but with Sun Pipeline in 1967 and retired from Sun Exploration in 1987.
She was a strong woman of faith and a member of Central Baptist Church in Owasso. She enjoyed a variety of pastimes including cooking, sewing and painting ceramics. She also enjoyed working puzzles.
Margaret dearly loved her family and her role as “Maw Maw”.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 27, 2023, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 28, 2023, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Kevin Laufer officiating. Committal service and entombment will follow at the Floral Haven Memorial Gardens, Dogwood Garden Mausoleum in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. The family requests memorial contributions be made in Margaret’s memory to Grand Central Kids, c/o Central Baptist Church, 9001 North 145th East Avenue, Owasso, Oklahoma, 74055. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
