Mark Henry Hixson was born October 13, 1948, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Mark Eugene Hixson and Myrtle Aretha Hutson Hixson. He died Wednesday, February 26, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 76 years. Mark completed his secondary education Tulsa and graduated with the East Central High School Class of 1966. He continued his education at Okmulgee Technical Institute in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
Mark was a veteran of the armed forces having served his country honorably with the United States Army during Vietman as a helicopter crew chief. His citations and decorations included the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Expert Badge with Rifle Bar, Air Medal with Valor Device, a Bronze Star, and a Distinguished Flying Cross.
Mark was married June 25, 1971, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Sandra Kay Gosney. He spent most of his professional career as a materials purchasing agent with Midwest Precision, Inc. in Tulsa. He was a strong man of faith and regularly attended the Oologah Assembly of God. He enjoyed a variety of pastimes including bike riding and traveling. Mark took great pleasure in participating with the Oklahoma Freedom Flight in Washington D.C. He dearly loved his family and spending time with all of them. He was always supportive of his grandkids and attending their events. He was especially fond of his role as “Papa” to his grandkids.

Heather Brynildson and husband John, of Sparta, Missouri
Grandchildren; Autumn Brynildson, Trinity Brynildson, and Eli Brynildson, of Sparta, Missouri
Sisters; Peggy Cooper, of Owasso, Oklahoma, and Aretha Braggs, of Collinsville, Oklahoma
And a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Myrtle Hixson, and his beloved wife, Sandy Hixson.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Trinity Holiness Assembly of God with Pastor Weston Baker officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be Todd Wysong, John Brynildson, Eli Brynildson, Darrin Braggs, Danny Wayne Gosney, and Terry Eubanks. Honorary casket bearers will be Clayton Cooper, Brian Cooper, Craig Cooper, Brent Cooper, and Steve Mowery. Committal service and interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
