Martha Arlena Hughes was born November 10, 1946 in Bradley, Oklahoma, to Ira “Dink” Boyd Logue and Louella (Claunch) Logue. She passed from this life on Monday, April 22, 2019, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 72 years. Martha was raised and educated in Bradley and graduated with the Bradley High School Class of 1964. After high school she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Science and Arts in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Martha was married August 1, 1965, in Bradley to Alan L. Hughes. She spent most of her working life as teacher for various school systems and worked for Meeker and Pawnee Public Schools for over 10 years each. Martha was a part of the VFW Auxiliary and was also very active at Central Baptist Church in Owasso for many years. She had more recently attended Collinsville First Baptist Church. Martha was a master seamstress and enjoyed quilting and sewing. She was very passionate about teaching reading and could break through any walls her students were up against. Those she leaves behind who hold many cherished memories include: Her husband; Alan Hughes, of Owasso 2 Daughters; Robin Thoendel and husband Craig, of Sperry Misty Garrison and husband Steven, of Sperry 6 Grandchildren; Nicholas Thoendel, of Sperry Joseph Thoendel, of Sperry Lauren Thoendel, of Sperry Isabel Thoendel, of Sperry Emmylou Garrison, of Sperry Eliza Garrison, of Sperry 1 Brother; Jim Logue and wife Barbara, of Marlow, Oklahoma 3 Sisters; Freda Dolf and husband Dwight, of Armstrong, Iowa Mary Bryant, of Richardson, Texas Kathy Andrews, of Verden, Oklahoma She was preceded in death by her parents, Dink and Lou.
There will be a private family prayer service, however all who knew and loved Martha are invited to the home of Craig and Robin anytime between
4 :00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2019.
